Harrisburg North Middle School Families:
After a long, relaxing summer, I am excited to welcome our new and returning families to our school. The staff at North is looking forward to seeing you on August 17th for our Back-to-School Conferences. While you are here, be sure to visit the gym for school pictures, complete the iPad enrollment forms, and swing by our PAWs table for some great Tiger merch.
As our school has continued to grow since opening in 2013, so too has the amount of traffic we see during pick-up and drop-off. In order to ensure the timely flow of traffic and the safety of our learners and families, please take a few minutes to read through the following information:
95th Street serves as the main access road for both Endeavor Elementary and North Middle School. There are 1200 learners and families between the two buildings, so if you are planning to drop-off and pick-up, plan extra time for the process.
We tend to see a significantly greater number of cars during the first couple weeks of school.
The peak traffic times at North are from 7:40-7:55 and 3:04-3:15. The front doors open at 7:40. The final bell of the days is at 3:04.
Both of the entrance lanes are considered “drop-off” lanes. Neither of them are “through” lanes. This makes limiting your speed once you have entered the parking lot and keeping your eyes open for kids walking through the parking lot a critical component for safety.
When dropping off your learner, please pull as far forward as you can. While dropping kids off directly in front of the door may seem like the natural thing to do, this significantly limits the flow of traffic in the parking lot.
The reverse holds true as well. If the line stops and you are back further, please drop your learners off when the traffic pauses rather than waiting until you are closer.
If you intend to use the “drop-off” lanes, it should take no more than 10-15 seconds for your learner to get out of the car and head towards the school.
If you anticipate drop-off taking longer than 10-15 seconds because they need to grab something out of the trunk or you need to speak with them, park in the lot to do so.
Carpooling with a neighbor or two and alternating days that you drop-off and pick-up will also help to reduce the number of cars in the lot during peak times.
If it is the right choice for your family and learner, encouraging your learner to walk or ride bike to school can also help to reduce the number of cars during peak times.
I have also included a graphic for a more visual representation of the parking lot. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Let’s make it a great year!

Each year, in partnership with Sanford Health, Harrisburg School District recognizes the outstanding work of educators. Harrisburg staff members nominate individuals from their respective buildings that they feel go above and beyond for learners and families. An independent review committee scores the applications and helps to determine the annual winners of our Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year. This year, we are proud to award HHS Family & Consumer Science Teacher 𝙈𝙧𝙨. 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙆𝙚𝙧𝙣 (Teacher of the Year) and District Registrar 𝙈𝙧𝙨. 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙡 𝘽𝙪𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙯 (Classified Employee of the Year) for their dedication to helping all learners find success. #TigerProud 🐾🏆
